PAYDAY 3: Unreal Engine 5 Performance Beta

Hello there, Heisters!

Starting now and running over the weekend, we’re hosting an Open Beta on Steam focused on performance and stability for Unreal Engine 5 in PAYDAY 3.

To participate, simply select the Open Beta branch in Steam and opt in.

The beta will end on Monday, August 10, at 10am CEST.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for feedback on performance and stability as this is a way for us to assess performance and stability across a wider array of hardware configurations.

Any crashes should be submitted using the Crash Reporter that appears after the game crashes. Simply click Send, and we’ll receive the information we need.

For any issues that don’t cause a crash, please create a DxDiag information dump and send it to us at the following email address: [email protected]

We’re especially interested in reports about:

Graphical corruption or visual issues.
Non-functional or problematic game settings.
Significant frame rate drops while playing.
Differences in loading times.

Helpful tips

PAYDAY 3 has a built-in FPS counter that can be enabled via: Settings > User Interface > FPS Count

To create a DxDiag information dump:

Open the Start menu in Windows.
Type dxdiag and launch the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.
Click Save All Information in the bottom-right corner to generate a .txt file containing your system information.

The information in the DxDiag file is generally not considered sensitive, and we’ll only use it to investigate performance issues. However, if you have privacy concerns, you can safely remove:

Your Machine Name or System Name (depending on your Windows version).
Any file paths containing your username.
Any information that identifies your employer or organization if you’re using a work PC.

How to access the Open Beta

The Open Beta runs on a separate branch on Steam.

To switch branches, right-click PAYDAY 3 in your Steam Library and select Properties.

In the window that opens, navigate to the Game Versions & Betas tab and select the Open Beta branch from the list.

Then launch the game as normal!

Additional information

As the Open Beta runs on a different backend than the live version of PAYDAY 3, your progress will NOT carry over. You’ll start from the beginning in terms of progression while playing the beta.

How to get level 150 and get $2,400,000

Play level Smash and Grab – Search and Seizure
Plan on Normal and play loud.
Grab 6 bags. IMPORTANT. No more than 6 bags.
Complete the heist

Your progress in the Open Beta will not affect your live PAYDAY 3 account. Once you switch back to the live version, you’ll have your normal progression, weapons, and loadouts exactly as you left them.

Known Issues

DLSS & TAAU are currently non-functional.
- AMD FSR3 and Intel XeSS may still be used.
Anti-aliasing cannot be fully disabled.
ModLoader instantly crashes the game.
